Research & Development

Good Day once again from the LMA.

I am happy to announce that things are moving along grand at the ranch. We have two new yearlings which are finally starting to calm down and feel they are at home now. Their names haven't been processed through the AQHA yet, so I call them Hey boy & Hey girl. My contributing sister "KATHLEEN" is trying to teach me how to import photos to the post. Going from cowboy to tech. geek was never for seen in my dreams so I ask everyone to be patiant with us for a while. Future post will have photos as I also hope to grow the community for horse enthusiast, both as hobby and sales platform. This period is the research part, development is the ongoing part.

Snips Flashy Dude (DUDE) has been happier since he is in a larger pen now. Dude is really starting to out grow his original pen, now occupied by Hey girl. Snips Jackie Jo (Jackie Jo) has moved into the arena with Larry's old mare Ginger. There seems to be a dominance dispute they want to work out, probably part of ranch development stage, other than that more room and exercise seem to be doing them both some good. Hey boy has a room to himself since Ginger moved, some separation anxiety, since he and Hey girl were weined together, and he liked to protect her at all times. Life around the horses does make you pay attention to the way they have lived so you can make good judgements while raising and training them. Production training is driven by economics, old training is based on the individual horse. This I believe is the more gratifying style, and yes it takes longer. The end result is usually a better product and a better match to more buyers in the long run. With horses the LMA is in it for the long run!

Well so long for now from the LMA, Mikey

It's nice to get the workings on the ranch, Mike. I never even knew Dude and Jackie Jo's registered names.

I love that you are doing this.

Can't wait to see pictures of Hey Girl and Hey Boy. Sounds like it is keeping you busy. Do you register their names or is that done by the breeder? It's been too long since I had to think about horse things.

Anyway, so glad to see you blogging, love to know what is going on on the ranch.
Love ya, Mom
